All 50 sections of the NCT include full-color maps and elevation profiles. and color photos. Also included are resources to assist with trip planning, from transportation to help long-distance backpackers connect trail segments and local services to mileage charts and other valuable information.
An avid hiker and freelance outdoor writer, Thomas Funke is also the author of 50 Hikes in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the founder of Trailspotters, a transportation service for backpackers. Funke lives in Hastings, MI where he served as resident manager of the Michigan Audubon Otis Sanctuary, a 120-acre bird sanctuary.
